It is normally the strikers or those in other outfield positions within the team who are the most well known, but she has really stood out as the goalkeeper.
She has also been able to navigate the challenges of playing at the elite level and studying at the same time, getting a degree in information management and business studies. That gives an insight into her personality: her determination to really get to where she is now. She made her senior England debut only in 2017 and from what I understand of her early career, she really battled to become the No 1 goalkeeper.
And it has been incredible to watch Mary Earps’s rise and her influence over the past couple of years. The Lionesses have had a massive impact on the way we view women’s football and on inspiring so many young girls to take up sport.
